Braces for Adults

Pristera Orthodontics is a premiere Renton & Burien orthodontics practice that loves creating amazing smiles for kids, teens and adults! Dr. Pristera focuses on the unique needs and goals of each patient individually to plan out a beautiful and healthy smile that benefits them for life.

Many of the patients we see at our two orthodontic offices in Renton and Burien, WA are adults who’ve decided it’s time to improve their smiles. If you’re an adult who is not proud of your smile, we welcome you to our practice as we offer adults a variety of treatment options for improving their smiles.

Enjoy the Many Benefits of Adult Orthodontics

Being treated by an orthodontist as an adult can help improve the appearance of your smile so you can smile with complete confidence knowing your teeth are straight and attractive. But orthodontic treatment can do more than just make your smile look better as it can also benefit you in many ways including the following:

  • Makes it Easier to Clean the Teeth – When your teeth are in proper alignment, it is far easier to remove particles of food and plaque by brushing and flossing your teeth. When you’re able to thoroughly brush & floss, you can reduce your chances for developing common problems like tooth decay and gum disease.
  • Less Wear & Tear on Teeth – Teeth that fit together properly are less prone to abnormal wear and tear on tooth enamel for better tooth health.
  • Can Help You Avoid TMJ/TMD Pain – When your bite is properly aligned, there is less stress put on the jaw joint and the facial muscles. This can help you avoid the pain that comes with TMJ/TMD like headaches, discomfort in or around the ear and jaw tenderness and soreness.
  • Helps Your Dentist Restore Missing Teeth – When you’re teeth are properly aligned, your dentist can more easily replace any missing teeth with dental implants or bridges.

Because adults are usually more compliant with their orthodontic treatment, their results are often better. By following the instructions provided by your orthodontist and coming to all your appointments, you can get your straight and healthy smile quickly to shorten the time you have to spend wearing orthodontic appliances.

Types of Braces We Offer Adults

At Pristera Orthodontics, we offer adults several choices in braces including:

Clear Braces

The clear braces we use feature brackets which are made of a translucent ceramic material. These braces are very low profile in nature. When you’re wearing ceramic braces, you can feel confident knowing that others are concentrating on you and not a mouthful of metal.

Invisalign®

One of the most popular treatment choices among adults are Invisalign®  clear aligners which are made of a translucent, plastic material. Not only are these aligners nearly invisible, but they’re also removable. This means you can continue enjoying all your favorite foods including hard, crunchy and gooey foods. And since you can take the aligners out, you simply remove them when you brush and floss to maintain good oral hygiene for the entire time you’re in treatment.

Modern Metal Braces

The metal braces we use are smaller, more comfortable and more attractive than the metal braces used in the past. If you don’t mind wearing visible orthodontic appliances, metal braces may be ideal for you.
